    NE DHHS: Medicaid and Eligibility
    ​Pregnant and don't have insurance? Don't wait to get care! Your provider can provide prenatal care while checking on your Medicaid eligibility. The link on the left also includes information about Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and 599 CHIP.
    NE DHHS: i-Serve
    ​For financial assistance with food, utilities, health insurance, childcare, or other essential needs
    NE DHHS: Women, Infants, an​d Children
    ​WIC is a nutrition program for pregnant, breastfeeding women and families with children younger than 5. WIC provides healthy food at no cost, breastfeeding support, nutrition information, and referrals.
    NE DHHS: Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
    ​TANF provides cash assistance to low-income families with children.
    NE DHHS: Elemental Formula Reimbursement
    ​Formula reimbursement is available for medically necessary amino acid-based elemental formulas.​

    NE DHHS: Prenatal Plus Care Coo​​rdination
    ​Medicaid enrollees can get connected to additional services through the clinic/hospital where they receive prenatal care.
    Bring Up Nebra​​ska
    ​Bring Up Nebraska connects the progress that is already being made, coordinates state and local strategies, and encourages other communities and partners to join the effort. For support building well-being for your family, find a community collaborative in your area. 
    Teen Pregnancy Support
    ​Programs supporting teens who are pregnant are available across Nebraska.

    NE DHHS: Adoption Support
    ​Information and resources about adoption assistance are provided by Nebraska DHHS.

    ​An informational booklet on fetal development prepared by Nebraska DHHS. 
    Pregnancy and Infan​t Loss Support
    ​When pregnancy loss occurs grief and sadness can be profound.
    ​Mommy and Me Programs
    ​Mommy and Me programs are residential programs where mothers in inpatient substance abuse treatment can reside with their children (usually until age 2 or so).  These exist across the nation. There are 5 of these residential programs across Nebraska. 
    Community Support During Pregnancy
    ​Pregnant women who struggle with substance use during pregnancy can work with their healthcare provider and community support systems to develop a prenatal plan of safe care for their unborn baby. Using these plans, pregnant people can build a record of how they work with providers to take care of their baby. Hastings and North Platte  have community partners that can support pregnant women who want to develop a prenatal plan of safe care.
    NE DHHS: Plan of Safe Care
    ​Infants born and identified as being affected by substance abuse or withdrawal symptoms resulting from prenatal drug exposure, or a Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder will need extra support. Healthcare providers will notify DHHS and then work with families to develop a Plan of Safe Care to address the health and treatment needs of substance-exposed infants and affected family or caregivers.

    ​MilkWorks provides guidance and resources related to breastfeeding for families across Nebraska.
    ​Doula Support

    Map of Local Health D​epartments
    ​Nebraska has 19 local health departments across the state that can help you connect to care in your community.​
    NE DHHS: Maternal, ​Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (N-MIECHV) Program
    ​N-MIECHV is free to anyone who is pregnant or with children under the age of 3 years old. N-MIECHV utilizes the evidenced-based home visiting model, Healthy Families America, to support pregnant or parenting families of children from birth to five years old. Families that struggle with poverty, violence or substance abuse, teen parenting or military families may qualify for services. Program staff are often from the same cultural background as the clients. Find your local program here.
    Sixpence
    ​Early Learning Programs are designed to promote your child's brain development from infancy to three years old. It utilizes the evidenced based home visiting model, Parents as Teachers. Referrals are made and services are contracted through public school systems across the state.
    Buffet Early Childhood Institute
    ​The Buffet Early Childhood Institute is a collaborative, interdisciplinary, effort with the University of Nebraska focusing on early childhood development to age 8 and improving the workforce of those that care for our young children.
    Nebraska Early Development Network- Early Intervention
    ​The Nebraska Early Development Network- Early Intervention is a voluntary program for children with special needs that promotes growth and development, allowing your child the opportunity to reach their full potential. 
    Head Start and Early Head Start
    ​Head Start and Early Head Start programs are available across the state. These programs promote school readiness, physical and mental health, educational, nutritional, and social services for our infants and young children.
    I Be Black Girl
    ​I Be Black Girl is a reproductive justice organization that centers on Black women, femmes, and girls.
